The ingredients of kerala brown rice kadhi are:
- Brown Rice raw 20gms
- Buttermilk 25ml
- Curry leaves 5 to 7
- Whole dry red chilies 2
- Mustard seeds ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil - ½ tsp
- Coconut scraped 2.5gms(optional)
Step 1 Soak rice water for 15-20 mins, drain and grind with coconut to a smooth and thick paste. Wash curry leaves and pat them dry. Add buttermilk to the ground paste and make a mixture of medium thick consistency.
Step 2 Heat oil in saucepan and fry red chilies. Heat the remaining oil and temper with mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and remaining red chilies. Add the chili powder and curry leaves.
Step 3 Stir well and add the buttermilk mixture. Bring to a boil and simmer till it thickens slightly. Add salt to taste.
Step 4 Serve hot
